I love Tellison, if the new album is anywhere near as good as (or even better than) Contact! Contact! then without exaggeration it will probably be the best album released in 2011.

They’re playing ibar in Bournemouth on the 18th of June as part of the Lost In Stereo club night. Hope its busy and full of Tellison fans!

Cycling

Last year me and a bunch of people decided that cycling to Luxembourg (via Brussels, from Calais) would be a good idea. Our route planning was rather ad hoc and we camped wherever we happened to stop along the journey. I think we called it wild camping or something like that (n.b this can be good/bad, one night ended up being in what was basically a car park).

Anyway it was a lot of fun and I’ll probably blog more about it later, or post up our route if anyone’s interested.

In late September some time a mate and I decided that cycling from London to Brighton overnight so that we could see Metronomy the next would be a good idea. And it was. Gliding downhill in pitch black (but for the front light of my bike) out of London towards Brighton was incredible. It was harder work than the previous ride (unbelievably) but still a lot of fun. So now its 2011 I want to do some more cycling and find new challenges. Having never gone on an organised ride the idea of cycling with hundreds of other riders seems appealing, although the distances can be much tougher.

This is my shortlist of possible bike rides for 2011:

London -> Dunwich night ride

L’Eroica - This is a one day (daytime) ride through the Chianti regions of Italy. There are some possible drawbacks though, you need a bike frame built before 1976 and, you know, its in Italy.

Etape Hibernia - A day ride on the West Coast of Ireland. This is appealing cos its on my birthday, and I’ve never been to Ireland (but want to go). Its unappealing because it has an entry fee and looks very much like a race, which isn’t what I’m into.

There’s also talk of taking a couple of weeks and doing Netherlands-Germany-Sweden-Denmark later in the year which would be awesome if it happened.
